Created in 2003 for
an exhibition at
the Cabinet of Curiosities explores the suspension of disbelief
caused by the authority of museum labelling.
We rarely question the descriptions we read in museums,
galleries or authoritative books, taking them at face value,
whether or not they are true.
There are forty-five specimens in the cabinetĖ some obviously fictitious,
others ambiguous and others genuine, leading the viewer to speculate as to
what is true and what isnít. Due to the interest generated by the exhibit,
a second Cabinet of Curiosities was created the following year.
